The community of Potlatch began as a company town for Potlatch Forests Inc, once boasting the largest sawmill in the world and a booming forestry industry. Surviving great changes in the timber industry, Potlatch has become a thriving community with a more diverse economy consisting of agriculture, mining, and recreation in addition to the timber industry.

The spectacular scenery surrounding Potlatch consists of deep pine forests and grassy meadows, clear rivers and babbling mountain streams, providing year-round recreational opportunities. Potlatch provides excellent accommodations for hunting, fishing, camping, and other recreational activities.

The local communities of Potlatch, Onaway, Princeton, and Harvard all enjoy great location, moderate climate, fertile soils, lush forests, and a strong sense of community that makes the area an excellent place to call home.

8/18/2014 - 9/13/2014 -  Museum of Art/WSU Fine Arts Faculty Focus: Ann Christenson
Pullman
The Museum of Art/WSU announces a retrospective journey in a Fine Arts Faculty Focus Exhibition by artist Ann Christenson, Aug. 18– Sept. 13. An opening reception will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in the Museum of Art gallery with a talk given by the artist at 7 p.m. Admission to the museum is free. The Museum of Art has a long-standing tradition of presenting work by department of Fine Arts faculty members. Since 2004, these exhibits have alternated large group shows with a biennial exhibit showcasing a recently retired faculty member. This year the museum presents a retrospective exhibit of Ann Christenson's work. Ann Christenson began teaching at WSU in 1990 as a ceramicist. Her work often resembles a confluence of juxtapositions: organic yet geometric, industrial yet primeval, intimate yet worldly, and awkward yet elegant. She draws her influences from her cross-cultural experiences, domestic environment, and the natural world in order to explore space and material. She creates decorative ceramic forms that disrupt convention and echo an unexpected beauty. Intuition and improvisation often come into play, and the diversity of ceramic art throughout the ages fuels her creations. The Museum of Art is located on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium in the Fine Arts Center on the WSU Pullman campus. Gallery hours are Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., open until 7 p.m. on Thursdays and closed on Sundays. For more information please contact the museum at 509-335-1910 or visit our website at http://museum.wsu.edu. This exhibit is funded by the members of the Museum of Art/WSU and the Samuel H. and Patricia W. Smith Arts Endowment Fund.

9/4/2014 -  Heaven Can Wait
Pullman
Heaven Can Wait Directed By Shirlee Hennigan Rated PG September 4th - September 21st, 2014 The classic play tells the story of Joe Pendleton, a professional boxer and pilot who, when his plane flight does awry, has his soul pulled from his body before he has died. In Heaven, Mr. Jordan, the chief angel, is forced to find him a new body. He ends up using the form of a rich man recently murdered by his wife. The hijinx begins when Joe as Jonathan Farnsworth, falls for the lovely Bette, and reunites with his manager Max. Meanwhile Jordan and his assistant struggle to keep Joe in line and find him a body better suited for throwing a punch. The play is full of laughs and fun with the sincerity of the theater of the 1940s. Heaven Can Wait is a play that smiles while it asks questions about love, destiny and free will.
